More Difficult, More Fun!
One would probably not be able to visualise Alex playing basketball or cricket, by looking at how serious he is while doing his Kumon worksheets. Having been with Kumon since he was six years old, Alex works hard and has seen significant changes in his character and academic results.
Just like what Alex Clark shared: ‘Never give up. Results will come eventually!’
Timing is a challenge
As with many other students, Alex now faces the challenge of managing time for school work, school activities and Kumon work. With the discipline built up over the years, Alex spends much effort organising his schedule.
“Timing is a challenge. I am now busier with school activities. I play basketball in school; hopefully I can get into the school team. I also take part in leagues outside of school as well. So with a well-organized but tight schedule, I try to do Kumon work whenever I have more time,” said the well-disciplined boy.
It’s difficult yet more fun!
When he received the Advanced Student Honour Roll (ASHR) award for studying five years above his school grade level, Alex said with excitement that this is a great achievement! Studying at a level beyond what he is learning in school currently, Alex finds the contents difficult yet fun. “It is an exciting challenge to see what new things can come up as you advance through the levels,” Alex shared happily.
Maths has become easier
With a spirit that enjoys challenges and every subject he is learning now, it is not hard to guess that Alex likes Maths and Science in school. “Ever since I started learning with Kumon, Maths has become easier and my teacher gives me harder sums to do since I have learnt some of the topics before. Sometimes I help my friends with their work and look at different methods of solving questions. Overall my capability in other subjects improved as well, not just Maths,” Alex remarked.
Alex said his parents and Instructor gave him a lot of support and encouragement since he enrolled with Kumon until now. Armed with such support, Alex persevered and has progressed much. He said confidently, “I think Kumon helped me a lot. Besides doing well academically, I have become more disciplined and matured. I can also do my work independently.”
Continuing his studies in the areas of Maths and Science is Alex’s goal for college. With the skills he has attained and the positive stance he takes in overcoming challenges along the way, Alex is sure to be on his way to achieving his aspirations.
