Centre Flow

The Kumon Method is an individualised learning method. Each student progresses at his or her own pace. The Kumon Instructor supports each student in developing his or her self-learning ability.
Diagnostic Test

Determining the starting point
On the first day, the student will take a Diagnostic Test. The Instructor will then carefully analyse the result of the test and determine the student’s starting point.
The Kumon Programme consists of a series of worksheets in several levels, and students move to the next level at their own pace. Deciding the appropriate starting point is the key to self-learn from the very first day.
Go to a Kumon Centre on a regular basis

Study worksheets independently
Students go to a Kumon Centre on a regular basis. As Kumon emphasises the importance of self-learning, there is no lecture given in Kumon Centres.
Kumon students are encouraged to study worksheets independently, without being specifically taught. The Kumon worksheets are carefully designed in such a way that students can solve the problems on their own.
The Instructor supports self-learning

Ensuring the “just right” level of study
Before each Centre day, the Instructor prepares the “just right” level of worksheets for each student. At the Centre, the Instructor carefully observes students, to ensure that every student is studying at their “just right” level.
The worksheets are completed by students independently

Develop good study habits and deepen understanding
After having finished their study for the day, students submit their completed worksheets to the Instructor. The worksheets are then marked and returned to the students. If there are any mistakes, students correct these on their own.
By completing the worksheets independently, students will deepen their understanding of the content and develop good study habits.
Enjoy doing homework daily

The “just right” level of homework is assigned for every student
After students finish their study in the Kumon Centre, the Instructor assigns the appropriate worksheets to be completed at home, making parental support very important in the Kumon Method.
The completed homework is then submitted to the Instructor at the beginning of the next Centre day. Submitted homework is assessed by the Instructor and, when necessary, students revise their worksheets independently until they achieve a perfect score.
